save our studio
SAVE OUR STUDIO
Have you ever heard of the Affordable Art Fair in London? Well if not, it’s an opportunity to experience art on a grand scale covering many mediums at affordable prices.
Now picture this on a reduced scale in Cardiff with a select amount of artists plus the fact that proceeds will help a local art scene survive.
For over ten years Kings Road Artists Studio has existed in Pontcanna. It has been the base for many artists, and still houses just under twenty. Nearly all these artists show nationally and some internationally. So the opportunity to purchase a piece of work by artists at this stage of their career is an opportunity not worth missing. Why an Art Fair? Well, the studio has experienced costs that are beyond our immediate means. Hence SOS has evolved as a means of survival. An event night will take place in a location just opposite ‘Pontcanna-Pine’ (on the other side of the road via an orange gate.) The evening will have live music plus the chance to meet some of Pontcanna-based artists. The main part of the event will be the chance to bid for a piece of artwork for your home or business. Friday 2nd February - 6pm - onwardsSaturday 3rd February - 11am - 4pm Entrance to this unique event is just £1.

The Urban Improvement project by Barrie J Davies
The urban landscape can be an uncomfortable place to live amongst these days, consisting of hard concrete covered with graffiti, uncomfortable street seating, dingy phone boxes, ugly bus stops and smelly toilets. The artist Barrie J Davies has come along to help with these problems with a series of improving possible installations. The following artwork explore these ideas in site specific way to hope make that experience a much easier one for his fellow man.
The following are photographs of these interventionist installations
That were made around Cardiff in January 2007
